Substance Misuse - Harm Reduction Service
The aim of the service is to set up local clinics to provide screening, vaccination and wound care to reduce the physical harm from injecting drug misuse.
- Vaccinations for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis A. Screening for HIV, Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis A available and referral for treatment
- Screening and vaccination and information provision within specialist prescribing and GP deputising services for families/carers
- Daily Clinics in different locations, (current provision focused towards: Salvation Army, Archer project, St Anne's, and needle exchange facilities. Clinics, on a set day, at each base, which will be reviewed dependant on service user need - contact the service for more details.
- Provision for families and Carers drop-in available - contact the service for more details.
- Referral between other services to ensure support and treatment is received by appropriately qualified staff (including referral to other departments in the Royal Hallamshire Hospital/Northern General Hospital/Jessops).
- Outreach to Sheffield residential rehabilitation facilities to offer harm reduction services including Blood Bourne Virus screening, vaccination and wound care.
- Outreach to probation to offer service users harm reduction provision.
