We provide packages of care to assist in reducing alcohol intake (health permitting) or to become abstinent and access to psycho-social interventions.
The service works collaboratively with mental health teams and recognises that alcohol is a relapsing condition, and we endeavour to support service users with their daily life skills, equipping you with strategies to cope and fulfil your aspirations.
Alcohol is freely available and sold openly so avoidance is not really an option. Therefore after undergoing inpatient or community detoxification you will be offered time limited Relapse Prevention Sessions to build on the current changes made in health and wellbeing by utilising the psycho-social intervention PSI support services.
All clinicians work with mental health team colleagues for ease of care co-ordination and to facilitate discharge packages to reduce relapsing into alcohol intake. All clinicians work with individual GP practices enabling the alcohol service to share care arrangements, therefore being able to see more people for treatment and facilitate care back to their GP in an agreed manner with contingency plans in place for relapses.
Our outpatient clinics have put in place a new streamlined and effective clinic structure to maximise the number of appointments available, to reduce waiting times and ensure there is enough time to share your personal concerns with a doctor.
