An Art Installation created by SHSCT service users, staff and volunteers will be launched at an opening event on Saturday 2nd July at 1.30pm at Weston Park Museum. The installation will be going in the Life and Times Section of the exhibition for 2 years.
The vision for the installation came from Kay Aitch (Creative Arts Steering Team (CAST) member). They decided to build the outside of a house using decorated bricks and tiles enabling service users from across the Trust to contribute. The display explores our individual ideas of home and what it means to us all. The outside of a home has been created from objects and ideas you’d usually find inside.
Part of the Installation will be a short film featuring service users inviting you into their homes and talking about the significance of home. The film has been produced by University of Sheffield ‘Storying Sheffield’ Project.
Funding and support for the installation has come from SHSCT General Charitable Fund, Museums Sheffield, and University of Sheffield.
CAST are also planning another Art exhibition for World Mental Health Week on 7th to 9th October at University of Sheffield, Jessop West Exhibition Space following on from the success of last year’s exhibition. More info will follow.
