SHSC Participates in 2010 Community Mental Health Survey
Obtaining feedback from service users and taking account of their views and priorities is vital for bringing about improvements in the quality of care, and keeping them at the centre of health services. The NHS Plan (2000) declared the government's commitment to ensuring that patients and the public have a real say in how NHS services are planned and developed. The plan promises that every NHS Trust would carry out a local survey of service users' experiences of its services on an annual basis.
This year, SHSC will be carrying out the Community Mental Health Survey 2010 between January and April. This means some of our service users will be getting a questionnaire through the post. The survey is organized by the Care Quality Commission and will be carried out by all mental health organisations across the UK.
The results of the survey will be reported later in the year. If you wish to view previous survey results please click on Previous Survey Findings
If you receive a questionnaire, please help us improve our services by filling it in and returning it in the pre-paid envelope that will be provided. Thanks for your help.

Annual Healthcheck
The Annual Health Check was a national exercise carried out by the Care Quality Commission to assess and rate the quality of care in the NHS. The Annual Health Check has been replaced with the 'periodic reviews' of commissioners and providers of health and social care by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). The CQC took over from the three health and social care regulators (the Healthcare Commission, the Commission for Social Care Inspection and the Mental Health Act Commission) on 1st April 2009.
This financial year (2009/2010) is a 'transition year' before registration standards come into force in April 2010. As such SHSC made a final declaration of compliance with the old Core Standards in November 2009. Please click on the link below for the November declaration.
